The Human Resources department has set as its priority to have a fully credentialed teacher in every classroom who meets the standard of “Highly Qualified” under No Child Left Behind. We are seeking well prepared candidates who are motivated, innovative and passionate about the teaching profession.
The Calexico Unified School District accepts applications throughout the year for all positions requiring a credential. Specialized areas such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, English and special education are especially encouraged.

How do I apply for a position with the Calexico Unified School District?
Begin by viewing the posted openings under on www.edjoin.org . Once you have identified a position that interests you and for which you are qualified, you will need to complete an online application. Make sure that your application is complete, that you have attached all required materials for the position. Your application will not be considered unless it is complete.
 
 
How will I know if my application is received?
Once your completed application is received, Edjoin will send you an acknowledgement informing you that your application has been received.
 
What happens after my application is received?
After the posting’s closing date, the assigned Administrator screener(s) will review applications and select candidates to be interviewed.
 
What is the interview process?
Once your application has been reviewed and recommended for an interview, you will be called for an interview. Interviews are generally held in Calexico. You will be interviewed by a panel of administrators who will then make recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. The HR Department will then conduct an analysis of transcripts, CBEST Test results, prior experience (if applicable), credential verification and will then contact your references.
 
 
How will I know if I’ve been selected for a position?
If you are the recommended candidate and you meet the requirements for the position, we will contact you by telephone to inform you that the CUSD is prepared to offer you a position. When you accept it, and once Board Approved, we will schedule you for an appointment to come to the HR Department to sign an “Offer of Employment” (contract) and to schedule you to be fingerprinted. Fingerprinting is done at the Imperial County Office of Education in El Centro. It is at this point that we place you on the appropriate step of the certificated salary schedule.
 
 
How long will my application be kept current if I am not the recommended candidate?
Applications will remain active only for the posting period. Remember that it is your responsibility to keep your application current. Online applications should be updated as necessary [e.g. Address changes, changes in employment or educational advancement.]
 
 
Can I check the status of my application?
Yes, you can check the status via Edjoin. It is your responsibility to keep the information current as noted above.

 
How can I get an application?
The CUSD discourages the use of paper applications. All certificated vacancies and applications are posted on www.edjoin.org . Only electronic applications are accepted at this time.
 
Substitute Teaching (Certificated)
To be considered for a substitute (certificated) position, an applicant must possess the following qualifications and include the documentation listed below:
 
  • Completed CUSD Certificated SUBSTITUTE application
  • Substitute Permit or Teaching Credential (you may use one of the following):
    • 30-Day substitute Permit
      • Substitute Permit for Prospective Teachers (limited to 90 days total)
    • Full Teaching Credential
    • Three (3) letters of reference
    • Résumé
    • Transcripts
    • Copy of CBEST card
    • Copy of TB Risk Assessment certificate
    • Attend Substitute Orientation
 
 
The Calexico Unified School District has implemented the Absence Management System (AESOP/Frontline), which assigns/monitors substitute assignments. This system is designed to either call Substitutes to fill teacher absences, and/or allows Substitute teachers to be pro-active and search or hunt for assignments as soon as they become available on the website. Substitutes may also use Frontline to decline or cancel assignments, change profile, etc. Teachers use this Absence Management System to report absences, request specific substitutes, etc.
NOTE: In order to access this system you must already be on our substitute teachers’ list and have been given a special I.D. number and PIN.
