ALL RETURNING 1-12 GRADE STUDENTS (including students attending programs offered by Imperial County Office of Education) MUST VERIFY RESIDENCE BEFORE THE START OF THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR. Enrollment of new students and verification of residency for all students will begin on June 15, 2009 at your school site and at the Calexico Unified School District Office when school sites are closed.

Public Service Announcement for the Calexico Neighborhood House


A free lunch program for children 18 years old and younger begins on June 15, 2009.  Lunches will be provided Monday – Friday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at numerous locations in Calexico.  The program ends on August 21, 2009.  Please see this flyer for more information.  This lunch program is sponsored by the Calexico Neighborhood House.

The City of Calexico Recreation Office is sponsoring the Walking Club.  The club begins on June 29 at 7:00 – 7:45 PM at the southwest corner of the Camarena Memorial Library.  Here’s a flyer with more information.

The Scrapbooking Club for adults begins on June 22, 2009 at the Camarena Memorial Library.  Please see this flyer for more information.

The Calexico Recreation Department is sponsoring the Crocheting Club for experts and beginners.  The first meeting will be held on July 2.  Here is a flyer with more information.

The Camarena Memorial Library is sponsoring the Summer Family Reading Program.  "The Summer Family Reading Program provides recreational entertainment for the entire family.  It stresses the importance of reading and it encourages everyone to read during the summer."  Here is the brochure in English and Spanish with more details.

A Girl Scouts Day camps for girls in grades k – 8 will be hosted at two Calexico locations in June:

  • Camarena Memorial Library – June 15 – 19
  • Calexico Recreation and Community Center – June 22 – 26

There will be an open house on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Community Center for the public to learn about summer recreation programs.  Instructors will be present and registrations will be taken at that time.  Please see this brochure for more details.
