CALEXICO — It’s not every day that Calexico High School junior Bryan Jerez starts his mornings off with dozens of push-ups, side straddle hops, steam engines, leg lifts and flutter kicks.
But that is pretty much how he and about 45 of his classmates spent an hour and a half of their early mornings this week during a mock U.S. Border Patrol academy at Calexico High.

Recently, Imperial Valley native and long-time Calexico High School coach and teacher Cal Armstrong was honored by the San Diego High School Sports Association at Marina Village.
Armstrong was honored along with other coaches, administrators and community members for their efforts in helping further the education of young men and women through athletics.

NEW ALL-WEATHER TRACK NEEDS A NAME!

Calexico Unified School District will be naming the new all-weather track at Calexico High School. As such, CUSD is forming a Citizen Advisory Committee to review name suggestions and then submit recommendations for the Board’s consideration.

Please submit any name suggestions via email to Mrs. Janet Burgos at: jburgos@cusdk12.org

The email should contain the following:
1.Track Name Nomination
2.Rationale for Name Nomination
3.Nominator’s Name, email and contact information.

Track name nominations will be accepted through Friday, March 17, 2017 (4PM). The Citizen Advisory Committee will review name suggestions and submit recommendations for the Board’s consideration at the April 6, 2017 board meeting.
