2019 Summer School

For Parents

Calexico High School Students,

What are YOU doing this summer?  Sign up for activities that CHS ASSETs has to offer this summer: cooking, guitar, dance, crafting, sketching, video games, and others, all in a relaxed and safe environment!  Call 760-768-3888 ext 4117, or come by the high school’s library to sign up! All of these activities are FREE! Plus, there will be prizes awarded for good attendance!  So what are you waiting for?  Come by or call us today!

The Summer Family Reading Program provide recreational entertainment for the whole family.  The program stresses reading and encourages everyone to read during the summer.  Here is the flyer with more information.

Please read the attached waiver request from the California Department of Education on behalf of the Calexico Unified School District to the federal government in regards to exemption from required state testing as a result of the earthquake recovery period.

The parent hotline for earthquake related questions has been closed.  Calls made to the hotline number are now forwarded to the main district telephone number.   CUSD would like to thank teachers and staff that answered the parent hotline calls over the last few weeks.  A special thanks goes to Bill Hodge from Calexico High School for his good ideas and for helping to coordinate the hotline.

  • CUSD is inviting the community to a celebration of our schools reopening.
    • Friday, May 7 at Crummett Park and 8th street.
    • 6:00 – 10:00 pm
    • School dance and band ensembles, local rock and Latin bands, family activities and more. 
  • 10 school sites reopened this week. 
  • Calexico High School will reopen pending completion of the asbestos removal. 
  • High school graduation ceremony and senior activities continue as scheduled. 
  • Reopening of Jefferson School will be announced at a later date. 

Here is the complete update of the district’s progress.

CUSD issued a press release (English and Spanish) with updates for the community:

  • Most schools reopened on May 5.  Calexico High School and Jefferson School are tentatively scheduled to reopen on the week of May 10.
  • A School Site Safety Clearance was issued by a DSA inspector (Division of State Architect).  This clearance has been posted at each site.
  • Repairs and asbestos abatement continue at Calexico High School and Jefferson School.
  • CUSD is inviting the community to a celebration of our schools reopening.
