The Imperial Valley Air Quality is a website sponsored by the California Air Resources Board in cooperation with the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  This website categorizes air quality to different levels of health concern.  A Quality Index (PDF) is a guide that explains the air quality colors found on the website.

 

The Taking Control of Your Diabetes conference will be held at the San Diego Convention Center on Saturday, October 30, 2010.   Here is the flyer with more information and registration information.

 

The Calexico High School Band and Drill Team will be at McDonald’s on Imperial Avenue in Calexico on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6 PM to 8 PM.  They will be performing outside the restaurant. Calexico Band will receive 20% of the total sold during those 2 hours.  Please come out and support your band.

La banda y equipo de banderas de la Calexico High School estara en McDonald’s en la avenida Imperial en Calexico este jueves, 14 de octubrede 6 a 8 pm.  Estaran tocando afuera del restaurant.  La banda y equipo de banderas recibira 20% de el total que se venda en McDonald’s durante esas dos horas.  Por favor venga y apoye a su banda.
 

There was a low pressure gas leak on the corner of Encinas and Sherman Avenues today, Tuesday, October 5, 2010.  As a precaution, students from certain classrooms at Dool Elementary and De Anza 9th Grade Academy were evacuated.  Students were moved to classrooms furthest from Encinas and Sherman Ave.  There were no dangers posed to students.  The evacuations were taken to ensure student safety. All Dool Elementary students were dismissed at 1:00 p.m. as regularly scheduled with a change of dismissal location to Dool Ave.  All De Anza 9th Grade Academy students were dismissed from the front of the school and were routed away from the affected area. All afterschool programs at Dool School were canceled for the day. After the inspection it was determined that it is safe for all students to return to school tomorrow. 


Hubo una fuga de gas de baja presión en la esquina de las Avenidas Sherman y Encinas hoy, 5 de octubre de 2010. Como medida de precaución, se evacuaron los estudiantes de algunas aulas en la Escuela Primaria Dool y de la Academia De Anza. Los estudiantes fueron trasladados a las aulas más lejanas de las Avenidas Encinas y Sherman. No hubo peligro para los estudiantes. Las evacuaciones se llevaron a cabo para garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes. Todos los estudiantes de la Escuela Primaria de Dool salieron a la 1:00 p.m. como estaba programado con un cambio de ubicación de salida hacia la Avenida Dool. Todos los estudiantes de la Academia De Anza salieron por la parte delantera de la escuela y fueron dirigidos lejos del área afectada. Todos los programas recreativos después de clases en la Escuela Primaria Dool fueron cancelados por el día de hoy. Después de la inspección se determinó que es seguro que todos los estudiantes regresen a la escuela mañana. 

National GEAR UP Day aims to instill a college going culture with Calexico High School students.  CHS students wrote their dreams on a wall in celebration of National GEAR UP Day. Here is a copy of the article that appeared in the Imperial Valley Press on October 1, 2010.

 

 

The Calexico High School Marching Band, drill team and band boosters gathered with members of the community at the Calexico McDonald’s for a fundraising event in order to afford new uniforms, equipment, instruments and other expenses.  An article appeared in the Imperial Valley Press (September 3, 2010) about this event.  Here is a copy of that article.
